What is ICEL?
The Industry Committee for Emergency Lighting (ICEL) is a Trade Association whose Members are manufacturers of components and products for emergency lighting fittings. ICEL was originally formed in the UK in 1978 by the emergency lighting sections of the British Electrical and Allied Manufacturers Association (BEAMA) and the Lighting Industry Federation (LIF).
ICEL has become the foremost UK authority on emergency lighting. Its representatives serve on BSI and International Standards committees developing harmonised product and application standards. Compliance with these standards helps to ensure employees escape safely from premises in the event of a mains supply failure. ICEL representatives also work with UK Government to provide the legislation requiring compliance with these standards.
Members of ICEL are bound by a code of conduct which ensures the highest quality of product and scheme design together with bench mark customer support.
