ICEL EMERGENCY COMPETENT ENGINEER COURSE.

ICEL EMERGENCY LIGHTING COMPETENT ENGINEER COURSE

A one day course comprising of the essential aspects of BS5266 parts 1,7,8,10.
With particular reference to the new test and servicing recommendations.
The course is in sections with a test after each section, upon passing, delegates qualify for an ICEL Certificate.

SECTIONS

  • Background and Legislation for Emergency Lighting.
  • Emergency Lighting Systems, exit signs and illuminance requirements.
  • requirements for maintained / non maintained Lighting, Labelling, recharge times and approval certification.
  • Design proceedures for Emergency Lighting including spacings between Luminaires.
  • High risk task areas, response times , correction factors and Luminaire conversions.
  • Disability glare, installation testing , servicing , commisioning check lists  and maintenance for Emergency Lighting systems.
  • BS5266 Part 10, checklist for compliance to existing Buildings.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no specific entry requirements but the applicant should be working in some aspect of lighting relevant to the course.  It would be of assistance to the understanding of the course if the entrant has studied O-Level/GCSE Mathematics and Science; this is not a pre-requisite, but an indication of the course entry level.

AWARD
The ICEL Competent Engineer Certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete all elements of the course.
